Youth Initiatives “Zhashtar Demilgesi (ZD)” for the Sustainable Future: Exploring the past to build up the future” Program is a continuation of our work with the particular focus on a younger population and connecting youth with a unique mix of elders, innovators and visionaries to inspire and support them in authentic engagement and leadership. The ZD is to empower young people to become BCD leaders of positive changes in their communities. Through a two-year sequence of experiential education and grants support programs, ZD will train youth to become engaged as environmental stewards and champions of BCD while attracting the attention of young people to the issues of BCD with the assistance of experienced stewards. One of the main directions of the ZD will be revival of pastoral knowledge and traditional methods and practices of using remote rangelands/pastures and transhumance (rotational use) of rangelands to increase the productivity of degraded pastures  and address overgrazing, overexploitation of plants, trampling of soils, unsustainable irrigation practices and other negative impacts of human activities.
